The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to repositioning Nigeria’s education sector through comprehensive reforms aimed at improving access, quality, and learning outcomes across all levels of education.
The Minister of Education disclosed this on Wednesday in Abuja during a strategic stakeholders’ engagement on ongoing and proposed education reforms, noting that the administration was determined to address long-standing challenges affecting the sector.
According to the Minister, the reforms will focus on strengthening basic education, improving teacher training and welfare, expanding digital learning infrastructure, and aligning curricula with modern labour market demands.
He explained that the government is working in collaboration with state governments, development partners, and private sector stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of the reforms nationwide.
“The goal of this administration is to ensure that every Nigerian child, regardless of background or location, has access to quality education that prepares them for the future,” the Minister said.
He added that special attention would be given to reducing the number of out-of-school children, particularly in underserved and rural communities, through targeted intervention programmes and increased funding for basic education.
The Minister further noted that the integration of technology into classrooms remains a key priority, with plans underway to deploy digital tools, enhance e-learning platforms, and improve internet connectivity in public schools.
Stakeholders at the meeting welcomed the initiative, describing it as timely and necessary to reposition Nigeria’s education system for global competitiveness.
They, however, urged the government to ensure consistent funding, policy continuity, and effective monitoring mechanisms to guarantee that the reforms achieve their intended objectives.
The Federal Government reiterated its resolve to build an inclusive, equitable, and future-ready education system capable of supporting national development and economic growth.
